Elements of a Kinetic Landscape - Photograms

A photogram is a cameraless method of making photos. You can see the process in this Ilford video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJs1L5ONOU0.
I made this project for a uni assignment, and it received a high distinction.

Elements of a Kinetic Landscape
From studying those who have mastered the photogram, such as Richard Burd, Anne Ferran, and Man Ray, and from my own experimentation in the dark room, it is clear to me that there are two kinds of images that the photogram process is excellent at capturing. One is a stagnant artwork, crafted carefully before the exposure, like a painter or drawer might do. The other is a documentation of movement through time, where the artist has captured the evidence of a moving object on the page during the exposure.

My body of work explores both of these approaches. In one image, two materials are used to create a still image of a landscape. In another, the landscape subtly moves; the sun or moon captured as it’s rising in the sky. In the remaining two, the landscape disappears as the objects are separated and explored individually, moving across the page.
